The all-new 2012 Volkswagen Passat, looking to be a big player in the highly competitive midsize segment and the first car to be built at a new Chattanooga, Tenn., assembly plant, will come to market this fall with a base sticker price of $19,995, plus $770 destination charge. It’s been revealed that Hyundai got the most bang for its Buck with Super Bowl adverts for the new Santa Fe increasing Hyundai site traffic by 1000%. So, with figures like that and a huge captive audience, it’s no wonder car makers like to strut their latest products in front of the Super Bowl audience with the hope of a big return in sales. Umpteen car makers ran TV adverts in the 2013 Super Bowl, but it looks like Hyundai has come out very much on top, with Edmunds reporting a traffic increase of 738% in traffic for the new Hyundai Santa Fe after Hyundai ran its adverts and the US Autotrader site a massive 1000% increase.
A RARE British sports car will be offered in Silverstone Auctions’ two-day sale at the forthcoming Silverstone Classic race meeting on July 26th and 27th. Fittingly the car is a 1950 Healey Silverstone, one of just 105 ever built. The car was hand built at the Donald Healey Motor Company factory in Warwick and was designed to be equally at home on the road or racetrack.
